Yes, I can take another passenger, but can’t fit another kayak on my car.

I can help shuttling people to/from the put-in site, and I am in for the pub!

Anyone else thinking of camping on Friday and/or Saturday nights? May as well make a weekend out of it!

We now have reached a total of 35 members registered for this paddle. Karin, who has led this trip for many seasons, says this is the most ever. If you would like to get onto the wait list for this paddle, please reply to this post.

This should be a great event, but we will need to do some advance prep to make sure details are taken care of to make sure everyone is taken care of.

If you would like to meet up at the Sasquatch Inn after the paddle, please reply here. We need a general idea of how many people want to do this so we can alert the pub that we are coming.

This event also requires shuttling drivers between the put-in and take-out. We will be dropping boats at Harrison Village first, then driving our cars down to the take-out. Some cars will be needed to bring the drivers back to the put-in. If you are willing to help co-ordinate the shuttles, please respond here.

Last week, at mid-week, there were boaters enjoying  the (public) beach, but no campers were present when we passed by.

If any SKABC member is interested in working on some ways to bring this super site back into legal public recreational use, please let me know. I sense that the landowner is relenting slightly due maybe to continued public irritation over their previous ‘No Trespassing’ signs but there is still a long way to go with both Island Timberlands and the Lyackson First Nation.

This is a follow-up. We now have a viable way to get to and from the water from the Duke Pt BC Ferries terminal. This opens up numerous car-free loop options from Tsawwassen. See the BC Marine Trails web map for details. You need a cart, of course and it is not exactly easy, but it could work for you.  Darlene and I (with a little help) managed to bring our mighty 6.1 m Osprey Tandem kayak home this way from Newcastle I at the end of our 6 day trip from Salt Spring!

Many thank to brave SKABC members Kevin Hall and Jennifer Illsley-Hall for acting as trusting pioneers, based on sketchy details from someone (me) they had never even met!

Oh.  Maybe we could work something out.  I will be out of town Sept. 19-Oct.2.  Any chance you will be on the island before that?  If so, can you bring the kayak?  I live 4 min. from the Swartz Bay ferry.
