Land Acknowledgement and Reconciliation

SKABC acknowledges that our activities span many Territories and Treaty areas. We recognize and thank the Indigenous peoples who live and care for these lands and waters today, and those many generations who did so in the past.

In support of Canada’s reconciliation process*, SKABC encourages its members to learn about actions needed to achieve reconciliation by, for example, visiting websites such as https://www.ictinc.ca/blog/what-reconciliation-is-and-what-it-is-not and to read the Truth and Reconciliation Report (TRC) through the TRC Reading Challenge.

* "Reconciliation is about establishing and maintaining a mutually respectful relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples in this country. In order for that to happen, there has to be awareness of the past, an acknowledgement of the harm that has been inflicted, atonement for the causes, and action to change behaviour.’ (TRC, 2015) "
