See below for the list of SKABC courses, practice sessions and workshops planned for 2025. Members interested in assisting the training officer or participating as an assistant or leader in 2025 are encouraged to contact the training officer.
Kayak Surfing: PLEASE NOTE course registration deadlines!
For those who are interested in the customized SKILS 2-day course on kayak surfing, please note the registration deadlines set out below for the two offerings for 2025. See the website for more information. Registration will open Monday January 6, 2025 at 8 am.
- Thursday May 29 - Friday May 30- Registration and payment required by Monday March 24, 2025
- Saturday June 7 - Sunday June 8 - Registration and payment required by Tuesday April 1, 2025
Confirmed Course Dates: Registration will open by mid January unless otherwise noted:
- Remote First Aid: Friday evening April 4, Saturday/Sunday April 5/6 (offered by Coast Wilderness Medical Training)
- Navigation: April 26 and 27 (Galiano Island)
- Weather: May 3 and 4 (Galiano Island)
- Currents: August 22-24 (Mayne Island) (Registration to open spring 2025)
Courses with dates to be finalized in January once assistant instructors are confirmed:
- Knots and Tarps: (one weekend half day in 1st half of April)
- Beginners: (2 days plus one evening in late May/early June)
- Boat Handling and Rescues: (2 days on a weekend at end of May/beginning of June
