Since I’m now the proud owner of a Mariner Max, and at least a couple too many kayaks into a collection, the time has come to put my Mariner II up for sale.

Mariners were built without front bulkheads & were designed to be used with flotation bags and sea socks. Victoria’s John Abercrombie has completely ‘renovated’ this boat with new bulkheads, hatches in recesses, new hull gelcoat, recessed carbon fiber coaming, new deck rigging, etc.

The gelcoat is no longer “like new” and there are some adorable natural relic marks where a mink scrabbled at the deck with his claws trying to get in while we were camped south of Bella Bella, but otherwise in stellar shape.

This is a fast, capable kayak suitable for an athletic paddler. Can fit a huge amount of gear, but feels nimble in the water. It’s not light to carry, but then, you’re not going to break it when hauling it up on the beach, either. This is a kayak that will last you a lifetime, suitable for distance touring or day trips — handles amazingly well loaded or unloaded.

With the Mariner sliding seat, which allows you to adjust the trim on the fly as conditions change.

    Specifications and details at marinerkayaks.com

    17’11” x 21.5″

Boat is located in Surrey. $2500

I would like to take this course but unfortunately the 15th won’t work for me. I’ll try again the next time it’s offered.

Just read the news letter! This trip should be classified as C2. It’s 12nm, with strong possibility of a head wind on the return, but fairly protected with limited but easy landings.

    Hello everyone,

It seems Phyllis is uncertain if he can make it, so here is what I propose, if it works for you of course.

Saturday morning 10:30am we meet on the water (Ted and I launching from Vanier Park Parking lot) and meeting up with Nicola close to the Vanier Park Ramp and then deciding where to go and practice. If Phyllis can make it , that will be great too. I plan to be there a little earlier and Paddle for a while before Nicola arrives (ecomarine opens at 10am).

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks

    Hey Mark,

In 2017 the owners, Island Timberlands Ltd  posted No Camping and No Trespassing signs. I haven’t heard how they enforce this. The Lyackson FN also claim all of Valdes I, including the few private lots like this one, and they don’t want camping at Blackberry Pt either.  Too bad.

Does anybody know if you can still camp at Blackberry Point on Valdes Island

I have heard that for Sale Signs are there.
