Hi there,

I’m wondering if anyone has information about a short hike leaving Douglas Bay on Gambier going to a waterfall and natural pools. I remember doing this hike as a kid, and am hoping to do it again but can’t remember any of the details.

Hi Kevin, we also cracked the hull of our Delta 12.10 in the same place. since we purchased it from Western, I called them first, they emailed me the name of the Delta factory person to speak to in Maple ridge. We took the boat to the factory  and it was repaired free of charge but it took over a month, 5 weeks? said it was 1/1000 crack! the repair is excellent, can’t  see the damage.

Couple of years back I had to repair a fibreglass canoe, but the process is the same.

I found this information extremely useful:

Also… trace the crack to its end on either side, then drill through a small 2 mm or so hole. This prevents the crack from spreading further.

I brought my kayak in to them to fix and they did a great job. Just took a couple of hours I think. Definitely try calling again. I think I emailed them via their website. Perhaps try that avenue too. They are out in Maple Ridge.

Cracked my hull behind the seat just before the bulkhead on my Delta 16. Used the Delta repair kit to fix the crack on the beach and continued the trip. I called Delta and was told to email the details with photos. I have yet to get a response. Does anyone have experience repairing and could offer advice?

I am heading to Sasmat lake tomorrow morning (Aug 30th) at 9:30am to do some rolling practice about 2hours. If any one likes to join, please let me know.

Meet up 9:30am at white Pine beach parking lot F, then use kayak carts to carry to the beach.

Bring Kayak cart, wet or dry suit. Gloves, toque, goggles, nose plugs are optional.

Recommended for paddlers have some exposure to rolling or rolling exercises before.

We are looking for photos of people (not simply scenery), maybe someone building a Greenland paddle or or or. It would be helpful if you include the year, location, and brief description of each.

Contact social2@skabc.org and arrange to deliver HARD COPIES OF PHOTOS – these will be assembled and displayed on memory boards at our 2023 in-person celebration.

Nimbus Solander kayak – $3500

Fiberglass laminate, with safety Yellow deck, White hull and Roberts Grey seamline and hatch rims. In excellent condition (stored covered inside car port).

According to Rainforest Designs Ltd feedback “A fibreglass Solander in 2022  cost about $4650. I can’t tell you how much a new fibreglass Solander would be next season. Our kayaks do seem to hold their original sales price quite well”.

In addition, willing to include a paddle made by Wave, Wheeleez boat wheels, bilge pump and paddle float if I haven’t already sold them.
