Hi Gary,

I  Iive in that area & drive by the free pkg on the H’bay hwy. Several trailers left over weekends- never heard of any damage/ problems but that doesn’t mean all is perfect. Advise you to drive over beforehand to check out. Always crowded/full so need to pick time advantageously!

Good Day! I apologize if this is a less than intelligent question, but I can’t get an answer via telephone, with BC ferries. I am planning a 5 night kayak trip on Howe sound in June. I am planning on leaving my truck and kayak trailer at Horseshoe Bay, walk on with kayak to Langdale and go from there. Can I safely leave my truck and trailer at Horseshoe for 5 days?

I am planning to paddle from Locarno beach to third beach tomorrow (Sat Feb 18th). If anyone interested, please post below comments section or call/text me. Capable of paddling approximate 6nm possibly on wind condition.

Location:- Locarno Beach Trimble Street Parking lot near public washroom.

Meet up at 10a.m. Ready to launch approximately 10:30am.
Paddle to third beach and back, approximately 6NM. Return time approximate 3pm.
Trip classification 2B
Low Tide 10:33am 3.5M
High Tide 2:53pm 4.3M

Please bring dry/wet suits, rain gears, hat, toque, any other necessary gears to stay warm + snack, lunch, drinks,

I am somewhat limited as my best buddy will join me:

So I will be in a canoe. Estimated speed is 4 km/h.

From what I understand, Porteau Cove has the only reliable overnight parking. Base on that I suggest to go south from Porteau Cove, cross about 15 minutes before high tide to Anvil Island, have about 30 minute break at the beach (to get my buddy tired again), and the continue to the camp site.

As the canoe is susceptible to wind and waves, we would need calm.

I would assume that there is a reliable forecast available by Wednesday and make a go / no-go decision then.

Count me in Thomas, I love to spend a weekend there, can help to check the weather. Do you think to start from Porteau Cove, Brunswick beach or Langdale.

I’m reasonably sure that no accommodation will be made for bigger boats. RVs appear to be excluded, too. I’m hoping these principles hold, altho’ there will probably be pressure to accept both. I think it won;t be too hard to make the site accessible to paddlers. Cyclists are already in the scope of the project.

Provided that there is little wind and only up to moderate rain, I’d be eager for the first overnighter this year.

The plan doesn’t address powered craft and moorage of larger boats so that needs o be discussed.
