Nick HeathTo be clear, Matthew – I expect you mean Cates Park in North Vancouver rather than Cates Beach on Bowen I.
Correct?
AnonymousHello, I am looking for paddle partners to take off from Cates Beach, BC, over the winter. I have been going out by myself and love it but I capsized this week and the wind and waves made it virtually impossible for me to roll or re-enter the kayak. I was recused by a tug boat going by. It made me realize that having others paddle is an important safety measure. I do have a kayak sail which caused the capsize as the wind was very powerful.
Thanks, Matthew
Email if you are interested.
Admin S. JensenHi everyone, registration is open for this now — see the event listings.
Former MemberThanks Steve! I have been watching every video I can to learn as much as I can. The Howe sound videos from SKABC members are excellent.
Steve BestIf you haven’t already seen them, check out the Howe Sound page on the SKABC website
for links to several videos on the Sea to Sky Marine Trail sites.
Former MemberGood Morning All! Being a City of Med. Hat employee, I have to plan vacation days well in advance. I am planning on a 5 – 6 day 5 night kayak trip up the west side of Howe Sound. I will be starting at Langdale on Sunday June 4, 2023 and hopefully ending up in Squamish on June 8th, 2023. Very much looking forward to the trip.
Ted LamHi Stephanie,
There are a few options you can choose. From solo entry to assisted rescue, I can show you at the workshop, it is fairly easy. Hope you can wait till that day.
Ted.
Roberto DominguezI am in!
Former MemberI’m interested. I have a deck line change that I’d like to do.
George PrevostI’m interested in making a few changes to mine.
Former MemberIt would help if a workshop overview were given.
Kallie CunninghamI am interested, but need more details. Ted redid my decklines and a few other fixes last summer. Depending on what the workshop will cover, it may or may not be of value for me.
On a related note, SKABC used to have a kayak repair workshop (before Nimbus owner moved to the Gulf Islands). This is a different topic, but if there is interest, I’m happy to look into it as a workshop or training under the “training” portfolio. Happy to discuss with you as I start to get on top of my new portfolio.
