From Linda at Victory Marine Products:
We have been serving the marine industry for almost five decades and have recently taken on North American distribution for the UK based Gul Watersports technical and performance clothing line. Gul has been in the technical clothing industry for more than five decades. They were the first company in the world to create a full one piece wetsuit.
We currently carry an extensive range of kayaking spray tops, trousers, drysuits, full wetsuits and neoprene shorts, trousers and tops. We would like to extend an offer to your membership of 25% off of our existing stock. We will extend this offer through until July 15th. After that, we will offer your members a 10% store discount on all clothing and marine supplies.A link to our retail store website and retail address are below:Victory ProductsRekord Marine Enterprises Ltd.8194 Ontario St. Vancouver, B.C. So I plan to be at Jericho by 5:00PM this Thursday, and on the water from 5:30 PM. It’s sort of a trial run as a “short notice paddle” this week. Day and time of the “weekly” version still subject to change.
Easiest place to unload is the roundabout at the end of Discovery Street in front of Jericho Sailing Centre, launching boats from beside the Jericho pier. Ample pay parking in the Sailing Centre lot; possibly some free parking in the Locarno beach lots a walkable distance away.
Tide will be coming in. If the wind is not too strong I would like to head West around Pacific Spirit, paddle for 1 or 1.5 hours and see how far we get, then head back for around 8 or 8:30PM. If the wind is a little stronger (but still safe to paddle) we will head towards more sheltered waters in False Creek.

I have holidays and would like to do a paddle trip of at least a couple of nights; hopefully more. My thoughts are Sechelt Inlet as it isn’t too far away. Perhaps Desolation Sound? I’m open to other ideas though. I need to be back in town for July 13th. Fairly flexible otherwise.
I am quite experienced with multi-day kayaking and back country camping. I’m not a guide, nor am I an expert kayaker, so I’d like folks who are around the same experience as I am.
If I find company we can meet and assure compatibility, solidify dates and transport. I have roof racks and can carry one more kayak and paddler (and two more passengers if people rent).

Roy MorfordKayak now sold.
Robert KulkaUsed Extreme Interface double touring kayak made in BC (Qualicum Beach). This boat is probably 20 years old but the hull is still in good shape. Very solidly built and stable and large storage in aft, centre and bow hatches for extended touring.
$1,600 OBO.
Quirine SchuyffMy boat is also at Jericho so I would be keen to do this. I prefer Thursday but could be flexible and change my other usual Tuesday plans to another day.

Anna AnselmI’m interested and was thinking about proposing the same thing, Therefore I would join you. My preference would be to lunch from Granville, but Jericho could work. Thursday’s or Monday’s work for me.

Jeff LeeHello, I’m new here and am also from North Shore.
Tuesdays are best for me but I can be flexible on Thursdays. I did kayaking one time at Spanish bank last year and I have a small / slow 10 foot kayak if that’s ok.
Paul SchrimpfI am interested. I keep my kayak at Jericho, so I prefer to launch from there. I’m flexible about time and day.
Ellen WoodTuesdays would work for me (until the last week in August), Mondays and Thursdays are a possibility depending on the week. You can text me at(250) 818-2287. I’m free after 3 but need to get over there from the North Shore.
Tracey PhamI’m interested. However, would 6:00pm Thursdays work for you? It’ll give me time to finish work, load my boat and drive out to Jericho.
Let me know. thuypham88@gmail.com/604-442-5446.

June 25, 2018 at 9:40 am in reply to: Short Notice Paddles. Personal trips not officially sponsored by SKABC #15349Stephen TarrantWas wondering if anyone is interested in meeting for weekly evening paddles, launching from somewhere along Jericho/Spanish Banks, and paddling sometimes West around Pacific Spirit park, sometimes East into False Creek. This would be similar to the “Wednesday Night Paddle Series” in Deep Cove, but launching from somewhere on the Westside of Vancouver beaches.
Basically, I work on the UBC campus until 4:30 most days, and driving all across town and over the Ironworkers’ is a bit of a rush to go paddling in Deep Cove. Would prefer to meet around 5:00 or 5:30PM one evening per week, perhaps a Tuesday or Thursday (so that Wednesday Deep Cove Paddlers have the option of going both paddles….. I am not a qualified SKABC ‘trip guide’, so this would have to be ‘unsanctioned Short Notice trips’ unless and until someone who is a ‘trip guide’ takes it on.
Looking forward to hearing if anyone else is interested. At this point almost everything is up in the air–which day, launch location, exact time, etc.
Robert KulkaHello Roy,
Sound like a very nice boat you almost built and I would love to finish it. I built a Redfish Spring Run from a kit a few years ago and really enjoyed the project. The King would be an excellent addition so both my wife and I can paddle wooden boats at the same time (she would get the Spring Run and I the King). I live and work in North Vancouver and have a very flexible schedule, could come over on Monday almost any time. Please let me know what works for you, I can best be reached on my cell at 604.619.9402 or email robert.kulka@gmx.net.
Kind regards, Robert
Yekaterina YushmanovaFolks,A non-profit called Adventure Scientists is looking for volunteers to collect leaf and timber samples of big leaf maples this summer and fall. The samples will be used to create a genetic database that will help track illegal logging. They are particlularly interested in people planning to travel in Jonstone Sraight, Desolation Sound, and Vancouver Island north of Tofino. Please take a look at the volunteering details . There is a map on the website showing the areas that still need volunteers. It would be great if SKABC could help them out! -
