Hi Pilsung,

I am sorry I am not looking for a new kayak right now, but I am very interested in your bilge pump knowledge!  My kayak is in need of a new gel coat and not sure when I will take it to get it repaired, but I guess a bilge pump could be put in no matter what condition it is in.  What did it cost you to put the pump in?  What would you charge for your expertise to help me put a pump into my kayak?

I am selling my 17 foot P&H MK2 Medium Volume Scorpio (orange).

It is an excellent boat that rolls easily and tracks well with great initial and secondary stability. My Scorpio is also equipped with an automatic bilge pump which automatically pumps water out once the cockpit gets full of water.

I wish I could keep it but I have recently bought a P&H Delphin, and I am not using Scorpio as much.

The only store in BC that might carry this gem is Coast Outdoors in North Vancouver, and you have to pay $3700, including taxes, or more to buy a brand new one. They don’t even have Scorpio in stock.

I’m selling this for $2700.

This is a rare but awesome opportunity to get a good-quality sea kayak that can handle pretty much anything on the water. Also, this is also a great boat for multi-day camping.

For tides and currents, if you can’t find any place that sell them, you can download the entire PDF from the government website and print out only the pages you want. https://charts.gc.ca/publications/tables-eng.html

For charts, if you can’t find the place you needed and you have time, you can try and see if you can find the one you need from MapTown and order them online:

For local store, you can try West Marine.  They sell a lot of boat stuff and most likely will have charts.

Hey everyone!

I was curious what peoples preferences on maps tends to be? During my paddle 1, our instructor strongly favored nautical charts. I’d say I agree with his preference, but have had trouble finding places with them in stock. I’ve previously picked up a Wild coast publishing map, and though I know they’re not intended for navigation, they seem more readily found.

 

Additionally, does anyone keep a hard copy of the tides and currents book? If so, is there somewhere that actually produces it or did you print it of your own devices?

John Roney is an underwater cinematographer and film editor based on Vancouver Island. Passionate about ocean conservation and science communication, John uses film to educate audiences on the diversity of marine life found in the Salish Sea. When he’s not in the water, John works full-time as a video editor with the conservation organization, SeaLegacy, where he collaborates with some of the most renowned photographers, filmmakers, and storytellers working on behalf of our oceans.

I now have the correct parts so I’m going (again) to connect and test the stove pipe. There is room for another member in the little boat. All-day trip: bring lunch, pfd and rain gear, but the weather looks ok.

There are misc jobs that can be done. Hoping to have it shipshape for this weekend’s trip!
