604-787-4150Matt EtheringtonHi. I’m selling my Australian made sea Kayak. Shipped it over in 2010. Fibreglass, almost perfect deck paint quality. It’s comfy, fast, stable. With a sail it goes fast so be warned. You don’t have to use it all the time of course. But it’s fun.
Ken BigelowI get all my charts from TrakMaps
ETA is about 1 week.
Brad TaylorI’m in North Burnaby and I have two boats I’d like to store nearby. Currently have them at Granville Island but I’d like to have at least one nearby for North Vancouver paddling.if we can collectively come up with a solution, I’d definitely rent a spot (or two)
Richard CordnerI’m willing to work with some others who need local storage to set up a secure storage space with rack.
I had my boats in a storage unit in Ferndale WA that was affordable, but have recently relocated them north of the border and want to set up a more suitable space near my base in New West.
Sandra WaddleSteveston marine is sold out of chart 3549 for gods pocket. Does anyone have one they would part with?
I don’t care if it’s a wrinkled 🙂 but I do like marking up my charts.
Cynthia MateriBurnaby Sailing Club at Barnett Marine Park is great but full. Contact Curtis at cupatzer@telus.net to get on the waiting list. The club has some kayaks available for members and anyone can join anytime. The wait list is for a place for your kayak. Other than that I don’t know any other place in Burnaby. Good luck. I live in N Burnaby too.
Corey PlesterHi all,
I’m based in North Burnaby and looking to get back into sea kayaking. Does anyone know of storage options in the area? Open to nearby locations too!
Appreciate any leads!
Thanks,
Corey
Quirine SchuyffPlease sign up now so we can move forward with this fun labour day tradition! If not you, tell other members! We’d hate to have to cancel.
We have again booked the campsite for the September Labour Day long weekend! This is a fun and easy weekend combining relaxing, socializing, and paddling. Good for beginners or more experienced paddlers.
This island is close to Nanaimo and people can roll their kayaks and gear onto the ferry at Horseshoe Bay or drive across and park. People then paddle a short distance to the campsite to set up. We will have 2-3 paddles going out and there is an opportunity to just hike or chill at the campsite. Some people come on Friday morning or afternoon, and others on Saturday. Most leave Monday morning. There is a small ferry to the island for those not wanting to kayak at all. There is also a good concession which sells food and beer!
Saturday we usually hold a potluck which has us feasting on delicious meals! The Dinghy Dock pub is a short paddle away and we usually go on the Sunday eve for dinner. It offers many options for paddles and also some hiking.
Details on the website calendar. Any questions? Email social2@skabc.org
Kallie CunninghamIt’s great to see all the trips on the calendar this year. But…
- Have you encountered a current you didn’t know how to handle?
- Did you avoid joining a trip because of concerns about paddling through currents?
- Want to know more about currents so you can confidently plan a trip where currents are something that you may need or want to address?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, this is your last chance to sign up for the SKABC Currents course running from Friday Aug 8 – Sunday August 10.
The instructors have generously agreed to proceed with only 3 participants. That means there are 3 more spots available, and even if we have 6, it is still a small group. Don’t miss this opportunity!
Sign in to the website for details here: https://www.skabc.org/training/course-list-new/
If you register, the training coordinator will send details to the instructors who will review your experience and confirm approval to attend. You may receive a call. Once approved we will ensure that ferry/travel accommodation will work for you and then collect payment.Send questions to Kallie Cunningham at training2@skabc.org
July 25, 2025 at 5:00 pm in reply to: Mercia Sixta celebration of life at Spanish Banks on August 13 #26502Quirine SchuyffMercia was perhaps the reason I joined SKABC and became an avid kayaker. The Coast Kayak Symposium was one of the most fun events I’ve been to and really made me want to be part of that community. Of course there was much learning there too!
The obituary says Aug 16 but this post says Aug 13. Kevin, do we know which is the correct date?
