Due to bad weather on Sunday I moved the trip to Saturday 22 March, 2025. There are spots available if people would like to join us on this trip.
Kallie CunninghamThis popular 2-day course, located at Ucluelet and within Pacifc Rim Park, focuses on the basic skills and knowledge to land and launch safely on surf beaches and increase your confidence in rough water, an important skill for those who paddle the west coast. See the course description for more information. SKILS has made this course available to members for $315 + GST. The regular price is $350 + GST.
June 7-8 (Saturday/Sunday): We have 3 participants. One more is required by 8 am Tuesday a April 1st, to avoid cancellation.

Quirine SchuyffThis trip has incorrect registration open/close dates and should already be open to sign ups.
If you are interested, PLEASE READ THE POSTING FIRST, THEN email me, or reply to this thread. Once dates are corrected you will still be asked to do the registration form.

Nick HeathWe’ve changed the camping location to Farm Bay from Porpoise Bay. This reduces the number of times one needs to paddle across Welcome Passage, but puts planned ‘pub night’ out of reach. We are hoping for a group of 6 but so far have around 4 participants. The chief task is to erect way-finding signs for the numerous hiking trails at 3 main locations, based on Farm Bay, Drift Bay and Pebbly Beach, so we can expect a mix of walking and paddling to achieve this.
Ferry transport HSB/Langdale could be an issue. Bookings are full on Fri 28 Mar at 07:30 and for overheights at 09:45. Some carpool capacity member exists and one vehicle might travel over on Thu 27 Mar instead, with my small boat in tow. SKABC will pay ferry fares from the Park grant, which must be spent by 31 Mar.
Come and join us!
Tomas BednarRob, It sure is worth the extra cost with shuttle. I have done same on the second trip. We went up to the Fox Group, dropped kayaks on the water and paddled up to the Sullivan Bay, at took it from the ocean exposed side back to the Telegraph Cove. We have meet one paddler in the northern area, comparing with south, it really has desolated vibes… ( At Sullivan Bay, there is always at least one person – keeper watching parked houseboats, potential to restock basic supplies as well) And to your question, once again, I would go again for the northern part, rather than south if I only had one option. Despite smaller potential to watch whales.
Rob McIntyreGeorge,
Thank you for your very kind offer, which I will be sure to take you up on! I’ll do a bit more research and then reach out to you? Perhaps next weekend? Send me a time that might work for you to my email elysiumprojects@icloud.com
Thanks againRob
Rob McIntyreDenise,
Thank you for your kind offer – I have sent you an email.
Rob
Rob McIntyreThomas,
I am tossing up paddling in and out, vs going deeper in the Northern sections, and getting a barge back. It’s not an overly cheap option, but how would you compare the Northern sections – is it worth the cost to go deeper into the Archipelago? Keen to hear your thoughts. I only have 6 days due to work commitments of my group 🙁Oron FrenkelCan you send or upload pics of the crab trap?
I assume the floats are regulation bullet-shaped and colored?
interested!
thanks!
Oron

Denise MullenHi. I am doing it for a second time this July. if you want my trip maps from InReach email me at dmdis@shaw.ca. It is an amazing place
Tomas BednarBlue, red and green lines are my routes, if you will make your itinerary crossing my lines and will have questions, let me know. For whale watching, the best spot is definitely Flower island, that’s the only spot where we saw whales – Orcas and Humpbacks. For the places to avoid, on my line, there are none, the key is to time slacks well in the narrow passages and expect nasty conditions on the west Pacific exposed part of the Archipelago on the hot afternoon days. It’s pretty much common sense.
