Hi Sarka,
There are a few members in the Lion’s Bay but they are probably away on trips.
I do not know if there is anyone in Squamish – maybe a question for the Membership chair?
Cheers, Peter

I am new to BC, new to SKABC, live in Squamish. I am looking for people for short (or longer) impromptu paddles. I have a Solstice GT and 15 years of experience paddling the Great Lakes.
Looking forward to meet everybody,

Maureen BenzonHi Nancy,
I had water leaking through from my cockpit into my back hatch in my Tahsis. Since it had originally been sealed with silicone, I went with the marine silicone. It worked like a charm and lasted a good couple of years. The issue is that once silicone has been used, nothing else will adhere to the surface, so if you use silicone that is all you can use in the future. I think the putty you are referring to might be the epoxy putty mentioned in earlier posts. I filled in some damage made by a rock on my skeg box with same, and it is still in good after a couple of years.
Cheers,
Maureen
Nancy MoreHi guys
I noticed small amounts of water in my back hatch whenever I dumped or turned over my Nimbus Solander. It is dripping into the interior when water gets around the bottom of the hatch combing (confirmed by drying the inside and outside and pouring water on the area under the outside of the combing. So, the question is, to seal it off with marine silicone or fibreglass putty?
Thanks for all your considered opinions.
Cheers,Nancy

Maureen BenzonMaureen BenzonIt was pretty cool. We saw the group of about 6 boats and knew immediately why so paddled over to join them. There were also numerous people on shore, who probably had a better view. The whale watching boats were very respectful and approached slowly and kept their distance. Some of the power boats approached too fast but also kept their distance. Only 1 SUP approached too close. We need to remember that even if we are silent, they are still aware of our presence and we need to keep away. I find it very difficult to judge distance on the water, but keeping the same distance as the whale watchers seems ok, and try not to surround them. We want them to keep coming back!
Nicole BrassSo happy to hear that you got to experience and see the whales last weekend.
I have no idea if they are still around but my friend’s kids posted a video of the very same 3 orca’s at Bowyer on Sunday. My fiend has a cabin on Bowyer so they were out in a dingy at the time and those whales came within 2 meters of their little boat. It’s still my goal this summer to see orca’s while out paddling!!
I guess I know where I’m paddling this weekend!
Maureen BenzonLast Sunday I paddled Howe Sound and we saw a group of 3 Orcas. (SE coast of Boywer). Does anyone know if they are still around?
Gaila EddieHey Karin, I also am wondering about the time we would expect to return?
