    Hi Martin,

I may have found a copy.  But if not, I would love to borrow the club’s copy for a few weeks. Could I meet up with you somewhere to borrow it– downtown / East Van ??

    Thanks,

    Megan

In case you were wondering if our usual launch area was safe, as there is a “no swim” advisory for “Jericho Beach” going around the news. The advisory is just for the public swimming beach area in “Jerrry’s Cove”, not for the area by the pier or in front of the Sailing Centre.

    Thanks Stephen for the information!

I’m continuing the tradition and will be paddling at Jericho beach this Thursday. Plan is to arrive by 5:30pm a be on the water at 6:00pm.

To be clear, I am not leading this paddle, and we will make decision as a group on which direction to go, whether or not to go in case of inclement weather etc. As it gets darker earlier now, I aim to get back to shore at 8:15pm so we can load and leave before dark. You should be comfortable doing a wet exit, and be able to do a self rescue. Also, with the nature of the paddle, I don’t recommend coming with a recreational kayak. There is rental at Jericho Ecomarine, if you plan to do so please arrive earlier so you can be on the water at 6pm.

Meeting place will be the roundabout at the end of Discovery Street in front of Jericho Sailing Centre.

If you plan to join, please email me at traceypham88@gmail.com with your name/tel number/emergency contact/kayak make & color so I can make a float plan for the group.

Google 4618 Strathcona Road for directions. The satellite image clearly shows the park. Parking is at the park, or across the road at the playground and easier than Deep Cove which is an alternative launch spot

Sunday at Stratchcona Park 8.0am to 10.00am.

Sunday will be swelteringly hot again – a good time to practice rescues and get wet. I will be launching from Strathcona Park. Let me know if you will be coming, and if you need help unloading your boat. Please phone or email if you have any questions.

Probably you could buy the book directly from SKILS because they provide it with some of their courses. Email info@skils.ca or use their web form at https://skils.ca/contact-us/. If SKILS does not sell the book directly, they may advise you where you can purchase it.

Try MEC.  I remember seeing that book there in the past.

Anybody know where I can buy this book in Vancouver?  Ecomarine on Granville Is does not have it:
Navigation, Sea State and Weather, a paddler’s manual
Freedom of the Seas, Vol 1
    by
    Pardy, Marleau, Woodford, Harris
    Thanks!

I just went and bought a full wetsuit from this place. It looks brand new, fit nicely. They have various sizes 3mm to 5mm. Also have some latex as well. I’ve got their permission to post few pictures.
