Join us as we welcome Cameron Dalinghaus, BC Marine Trails’ First Nations Liaison and Stewardship Coordinator, for an enlightening and inspiring presentation. Cameron has been doing remarkable work engaging with First Nations communities up and down the coast, acting as a representative for all of us who share a passion for paddling the traditional waters and visiting the traditional lands of our local First Nations.

Cameron’s presentation promises to be highly informative, shedding light on the important work he’s been involved in. It’s a unique opportunity to gain insights into the cultural and environmental aspects of our beloved kayaking destinations. Plus, there will be ample time for questions and discussion, so come prepared with your inquiries!

it is going ahead and begins at 0900 hrs.  At Sasamat Lake – Park in Lot “F” and take the road down to the lake.  It goes for 3 hours and we will cover as much as possible in that time.

Quick / Short notice:

If anyone is interested in joining a clinic Tuesday, September 26th (3 days from now) from 9:00 AM – Noon at Sasamat Lake on how to use and improve your Greenland Paddle technique, please contact Mike Gilbert.

Cost for the clinic is only $50.00 for club members and there is a limit of 6 students max in the clinic.  Let me know if you are interested and I will be able to provide registration instructions.

Yikes! It looks like rain is thankfully on its way. The Chinooks in the Indian River should be ok – (I think they wait until Nov/Dec to come up the river, but I’m unsure..)

Hi All:

I was out kayaking today in Indian Arm. While it was a beautiful day to be on the water, something odd was clearly going on. Every part of Indian Arm is littered with dead salmon. According to a kayaker I talked to, someone who had been to the far end of Indian Arm said there were thousands of dead salmon up there.

When I got home, I poked around the internet and came up with this story in the Narwhal:

This Saturday we are going on a special mission and there are a few spots left for Fall Fling’s trip to Thwaytes Landing.

We will stop at the old power station building to find out if we can identify any paranormal activity…..

I am not sure about doors slam but last year someone called my name (turned out to be a fellow kayakers needed a rescue) but who knows?!
