Don FroeseGood to know Steve. Does the clear gorilla tape adhear well?
Steve BestI have used it and it works well, but I don’t recommend it. The problem comes when you try to remove it for a permanent repair. Instead, I recommend Crystal Clear Gorilla Tape for temporary repairs.
Mark StoakesDang – heading out on a camping trip on Friday 5th. Next time. I’d love to pull Yellow Iris at Widgeon.
Karin HartnerI will join you as long as you can extra canoes….

Don FroeseI may be the only person who didn’t know about this stuff but I thought I would share anyway.
We had a significant leak at the seam line on one of our boats and didn’t have time to get it repaired. We ended up using this product from Gorilla tape.
It’s waterproof and sticks to almost anything. They claim it can even be applied under water but we didn’t test that. It survived a weekend surf course and a 7 day trip so far with no leaks or delamination.
Obviously this isn’t for structural repairs but I will definitely be adding it to my repair kit.
Vincent LawI would like to be part of this.
Pls. send me the details Nick.
Nick HeathWe still need more help at the Widgeon Creek invasive plant removal
July 5, 2024 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Friday morning next week).I didn’t know much before about invasive Yellow Flag Iris – but it seems to be a threat to insects and that means it reduces feed for swallows and purple martins etc that we all love to see.
Cutting off and bagging the seed pods should not be hard. At my little neighbourhood lake, they also snipped off the roots below the water level, but it doesn’t sound like we’ll be asked to do that.
I’m told that the sap from cut stems is a skin irritant, so I expect we’ll be wearing gloves and protection for our forearms.
I’m going to bring my canoe rather than kayaks because there will be a need to hop in and out of our boats to come ashore with our clippers wherever we see a yellow flag. Metro Van Parks have other canoes we can likely use, too.
Please consider joining us and doing your bit for the environment!
Mary YeeHi Trish, I passed your info to Ric Tesan; we have a kayak club in Port Moody/Burnaby and are looking for replace our current kayaks. Because I didn’t see any other replies, I assumed they are still available.

AdminHope to see you at our Locarno Beach picnic Monday evening at 5pm. Feel free to invite a guest. You can also bring kayaking and camping gear and charts to sell or give away.
Bring something for the potluck feast or just bring your own dinner and enjoy visiting. (It doesn’t look like we’ll have a BBQ this time). BYO beverage, utensils, plate and perhaps a camp chair.
This is a great opportunity to enjoy great food, a spectacular view, games, and conversation about kayaking!
No need to sign up — just join in. Look for our club banner to the east of the Trimble Street parking lot.

I don’t have any firm plans for August yet but might end up doing a trip later in the month. Maybe reply again to this forum post in three or four weeks to remind me that you might be available.
June 21, 2024 at 4:51 pm in reply to: Trip opportunity – God’s Pocket and beyond: July 6 – 14 #24070George PrevostHi Jim. Yes, it’s too bad that Scotia Bay has closed. We’ve stayed there many times over the years. We are now planning to launch from the Bear Cove boat launch and park our vehicle at the long-term parking lot for the Prince Rupert ferry. We’re planning to paddle out to our first campsite rather than camping in Port Hardy but if you’re looking for a place it appears that the Quatse River Regional Park and Campground is your best bet.
