I woild love to come. Is there a boat ramp or should i bring my kayak wheels ?

Nick HeathYou got the last spot Randy, you lucky guy! Pl bring the sawzall only. For cutting rebar, so needs a metal cutting blade. I can bring blades if they are standard as with my recip saw. 07:30 St David’s/Taylor Way exit.
Your usual companions plus Kyle our hired help – he is phenomenal! Eat your spinach if your want to keep up with Kyle. Trail work, some site levelling, some possible rock work on the beach but unlikely as tides are not cooperating this week.
Can you pl submit a good Howe Sd work photo to Rita for the newsletter? Mick and I have taken mostly poor shots of stubborn boulders or the back ends of anonymous workers with their heads down and butts up etc.
Former MemberIf I do not already have a spot on Friday’s Thornbrough work team, then I’ll take the “room for 1 volunteer.” Are there any special tools or equipment needed? I have a battery-powered sawzall, 3′ limb clippers, rakes… Just let me know.

On Monday we went out and worked hard all day at Thornbrough. We are opening access to beautiful bluffs with a great view, so we’re starting to feel pumped about this site, too! Added to that we saw a small pod of orca off Anvil I. Nice to see them in Howe Sd. All the seals had vanished – so the whales were likely transients.
Former MemberSeems another week with ultimately no takers. We had a pair on the line, but the loss of one resulted in losing both. Maybe summer’s warmer weather will bring more out.
Nick HeathThere are some changes to this project/junket! 1. Starts 19 June not 20 June. 2. Venue is Restless Bight not Keith River – not enough debris found at Keith R on a quick perusal! This is slightly N of the original location, but the access is more or less the same. The paddling could be a little more challenging due to inshore reefs at Kwakuitl Pt, which need to be avoided offshore (to the W). 3. Access is via Gooding Cove, Side Bay or Winter Harbour. All unpaved roads. 4. BCMTNA membership not required if you are a member of SKABC – i.e. priority was given to BCMTNA individual members and now it is more open. 5. Car pooling, ride sharing strongly encouraged. 6. Max participants 20 or fewer.

No this is unique, as far as I know, based on a a grant from Van Aqua which in turn is based on one time money send by Japan to Canada as some form of nominal compensation ( goodness knows why they felt this was necessary – it should have been the other way around!)

Today was another winner with a 4 man crew at Ramillies Channel. We underestimated the amount of work – thought we might finish in 1 day but it will take another at least to do the basic site prep. By then, there will be 5 tent sites at Ramillies, all with good access off the pebble beach.

Former MemberI am 80% in to work next Friday, the 29th, just waiting to reschedule one other commitment. I had a great time on my first day out, and no soreness the next day. Working outdoors on such a vital project is a glorious opportunity to contribute.
Nick HeathFriday we seem to have a full boat and I just can’t take any more – didn’t think I’d be saying that, but it is true. Same goes for Sat too, although on that day we are surveying what has been done and still needs to be done at each site – a gaffer trip really! We get Sunday off for good behaviour, so are there any offers to help out next week? The days of activity look like Mon, Fri only, as I have to go to talk to the Heiltsuk Nation in Bella Bella mid week. Busy times indeed!
