Not sure if this might help, but someone else might like the information – A Friend discovered this vendor of hatch covers, and she recommends them. https://www.whetmanequipment.com/sea-kayak-hatch-cover.html#/

We are looking for hatch covers for an old Nimbus Horizon kayak. The front hatch is 10 7/8 inches across and 11 1/2 inches long. The back hatch is bigger at 1 foot 2 3/4 inches wide and 1 foot 6 3/8 inches long.

Does anyone have any they aren’t using?   or anyone have any leads on where to buy this sort of thing.   It appears that Brooks is out of business.

Thanks for anything anyone can think of.

If you live on paddle near or visit the Sunshine Coast, please consider completing this public questionnaire which is open until 5:00pm 23 June 2025.

There is lots of information about planning between the shihsalh Nation, the BC Government, other levels of government & stakeholders here.  This covers many topics and is not restricted to coastal recreation.

I’ll be representing BCMT at a focus group in Sechelt on 6 May. SKABC was not invited to participate in this. If you have relevant input that affects public coastal recreational access, please let me know beforehand.

This is a sad blow. BC Marine Trails will be requesting to meet with the Park Superintendent, but without any real prospect of a change in their decision. Rather the hope will be for a replacement site in an equally critical location. However, when Beaumont was closed, no replacement was ever offered.

Are you interested in taking Paddle Canada’s Level 2 Sea Kayak Skills course?

Would you like to combine that with learning more about overnight camping?

May 11 – 16 you could join me and others in the Gulf Islands for 5 nights and 6 days of paddling and camping for the astounding club price of $400.00.  This is how I give back and promote our clubs here on the Lower Mainland.  To join for this price you must be a member of either SKABC or PIKA.  The regular price is $750.00.

For $400.00 you will get outstanding instruction from myself and one other instructor for both Sea Kayaking and Camping while you work towards Paddle Canada certifications in both.  You will also get to enjoy some of the best west coast waters and islands along with enjoying the company of a group of avid paddlers.  By choosing the Gulf Islands you also have more  opportunity to save by not taking your car on the ferry if that is your wish (use just wheels to move your kayak on and off).
