Hi all, sorry for the late posting – didn’t post this correctly, but ‘yes’ the Thurs night paddle is on!
the plan is meet by the pier at Jericho beach at 5:30 for a launch time of 6:00pm.
to join us, you must have done a wet exit and self rescue within the past year. I am also not a trip leader and this is not a Skabc trip.
Please let let me know if you plan to attend with 1. Paddling experience, 2. Wet exit yes, 3. Your kayak make and model so we can look for you.
Paddles up!

August 2, 2018 at 1:08 am in reply to: Looking for one time boat transfer from Mainland to Nanaimo #15465Randy ChatterjeeI’ll be returning from the LM to Courtenay in about 10 days with a couple of my kayaks, and I will have room for the double. I am likely to be making the trip on Monday August 13 or Tuesday, August 14. I live in Courtney, so a drop off anywhere up to there is no trouble.
Randy Chatterjee
Robert KulkaI am passing on my double kayak currently residing in North Vancouver. The new home is on Vancouver Island. Anybody taking the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo with drop off either in Nanoose or Courtenay in the near future (early August)? I would of course reimburse for the additional charge for overlength (the boat is 22.5ft) and add $30 for your troubles.

3985Antonia De HaanHello,
I am selling one set of sea charts covering Vancouver to Prince Rupert on behalf of Aase Richter and her paddling group, as they are flying home today to Norway (see Kayaks for sale posting).
This is Aase’s description of the charts:
…sea maps covering the whole distance with waterproof ‘paper’, each set being ca.26 sheets. They are printed by Trakmaps (https://www.trakmaps.com/en/)<wbr />, the maps are made by Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS). The maps are good quality, and have been a great pleasure to read and use. The maps have been folded in plastic cases on the kayak so they are in good shape. Scales are 1:40 000 and some in ca.1:80 000.
If you are interested, please contact me at antoniadehaan@shaw.ca.
July 29, 2018 at 9:23 pm in reply to: Short Notice Paddles. Personal trips not officially sponsored by SKABC #15452Quirine SchuyffI will take over from Ellen/Stephen this week and inspire those who wish to paddle from Jericho Sailing Center with a group.
Disclaimer: I am not a guide or taking responsibility as a trip leader. I’m simply stating that I will be going and like minded paddlers can join. You should be confident doing a solo wet exit, and self rescue.
Please have all safety gear, knowledge, appropriate clothing and necessary skills.
Location will be weather dependent. (Likely into False Creek?) If the winds are very strong and/or there are less experienced paddlers in the group, I may decide not to go. (Right now the Windy forecast shows there could be quite strong (15kt) winds…. moving ahead of the front that is bringing a change of weather).
Please email me if you would like to join. quisch@gmail.com
I am horrible with spread sheets but am going to attempt setting one up with all of our info.
Clark Perry-BaterTurns out it’s a bit too much effort to get down there with the kayak early enough to get a parking spot at Jericho, so I guess I’ll cancel for tonight. Thanks for the idea!
Clark
AdminWe are six kayakers from Norway that just finished kayaking from Vancouver city to Prince Rupert.
We have two kayaks for sale, one Seaward Passat G3 fiberglass and one Valley Etain 17.5 fiberglass (European manufacturer). We’re asking CDN$5000 for both kayaks. Links to specifications are below. Both are used but in good shape. They are in Port Hardy. The kayaks were bought from Ecomarine. They are in good shape, with lots of good stories to tell and experience from long distance paddling on the BC coast. (See our blog at https://turen2018.wordpress.
com/) We also have 3 sets of sea maps covering the whole distance with waterproof ‘paper’, each set being ca.26 sheets. They are printed by Trakmaps (https://www.trakmaps.com/en/), the maps are made by Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS). The maps are good quality, and have been a great pleasure to read and use. The maps have been folded in plastic cases on the kayak so they are in good shape. Scales are 1:40 000 and some in ca.1:80 000. These are located in Vancouver. I hope to join you at Jericho at 8:00, maybe 2 of us. I guess parking could be a problem, right?
