There's a new page on Club History on this site. Read about the founding of the organization, then called VOTKA, through the moments and memorable milestones that brought us to where we are today. Derek Spragg was a long time and quiet member of SKABC. He left us after a long battle with cancer.
Derek had a unique character and typical British sense of humour. A bit of a non-traditionalist which showed in his several years as editor of the club’s newsletter. A completely left turn addition was his stories of “Definitely not Kayaking” as a takeoff on the CBC program “Definitely not the Opera”.
Derek was a long-time teacher and specialized in woodworking courses of which he enjoyed not only in the local school system but also helping the less fortunate.
He will be missed.

The idea is for new people to know who to go to to chat about the club.
There is a new feedback form on the club website. Find it at the bottom of the home page and contact page when you're logged in. Your comments will be read by the directors and shared with discretion to others as appropriate.

The club got a great deal on some black winter-weight microfibre ball caps. They are adjustable with a metal buckle in back. Perfect for paddling or hiking on those cold, damp days ahead.
