Thanks for everyone’s response to my posting. I kind of follow Vincent’s method. I managed to get a plastic cutting board (flexibles one) from dollar store for $2.50. Managed to cut 2″ strips (use two strips to make it stronger) then cut a piece of cardboard with the same diameter fit into wrist gasket and insert. Did one wrist, waiting to dry out now. Everything went well.

Only complain is dealing with Aqua seal. Seems to stick to everything, not much pleasant. Has to do carefully without getting to everything. If you don’t want to deal with it, not a bad idea to let professionals deal with it.

Last year I have to replace my neck gasket, it was bit of work. I gave it to Coast Outdoor and they did a great job. Also their turnaround time was great. I managed to drop off and pick up in two days.
Also Skyview Outdoors repairing gaskets too.

My experience is that the replacement of wrist gaskets is simple enough when you have the Kokatat kit. PIKA owns the Kokatat wrist and the neck gasket replacement kits which are available for borrowing.

Hi Everyone,

In helping each other with safety practice for the next season or still paddle in the Fall. I would like to start a pilot run this year of Wet exit, Re-entry and Assisted rescue in Sasamat lake. The idea is to help paddlers, who do not own dry suit, can work in the warm water (for the next season). Others with dry suit are also welcome.

When: Saturday, August 5th 9:00 Am, on water.

Where: Parking lot F (the last parking lot). Pay parking in effect, wheel cart needed.

What to expect:

Low and high brace,
Draw strokes and techniques to move around and quickly approach swimmer’s boat.
Basic wet exit, notifying others while in the water.
Basic solo entries, with or without paddle float.
Bow rescue.
T-rescue,

Using stirrup,

Basic towing. Quick towing a paddler and boat out of danger.

I know that many of you have years of paddling and trainings, but I believe that if the skills are not maintained, once an accident happens, we never know how to react, or with this practice we get in action quickly to help others on the trip.

This is a practice session, not a clinic nor a course and I might learn something from you too.

Anyone have wrist gasket repair tool kit that I can borrow? It is just two adjustable cylinders and two small pipes fits inside. I can’t seems to find locally to buy it.

I was trying to use some other tools like water bottle or yogurt cup but bit harder to take it out once gasket dry out.

I came across this good video explaining how to replace wrist gaskets if anyone else trying to do the same.

I trust everyone is enjoying the summer and the ocean.

Mt self and my girlfriend,Judy, were members years ago,you couldn’t forget my blue chevy avalanche and my orange Gulfstream.

Unfortunately, Judy passed away with lung cancer a few years back and I am happy to say I survived stage 3 esophagus cancer.

Always dreamed of getting back into the sport but doubt I have the strength nor funds these days.
The boat was built in the Sydney shop on the island before Current Design was sold maybe in 2005,the boat is in good shape and have all the Thule racks, saddle and rollers,
Selling for $1800,the boat is in the lower mainland.

An epic weekend explorer and quality build.

On the water at 6.00 pm (parking dependant) so get there early if you can.

Strathcona to Twin Islands and up to the narrows to check out the pictoglyphs.

Approx. 8nm return with limited landings.

Parking is not easy during spring break, but come prepared to hang out for a bit until someone leaves. Or carpool. Parkgate mall is an easy meet up place.

Please let me know if you are coming so we can help unload.

I have a very nice NDK Romany Surf kayak for sale and was thinking it may be of interest to a SKABC member since they are beautifully crafted kayaks and in short supply.
