Broughton Archipelago Tour – just added; Sept. 27th – Oct. 2nd; Space for 4 only. This is going to be brilliant. We water taxi to our home base the afternoon of Sept. 27th. Full accomodation with toilets, showers, separate bedrooms and kitchen. We will stay there each night. Each day we will be paddling to new and different locations. Each night you will be provided with awesome dinners. Bring your breakfast, lunch and snacks. Chance to explore and hike as well. We will be on the water taxi to return home the morning of October 2nd (5 nights accomodations). What a way to end the season! $1,850.00.

A bit of short notice…

Anyone interested in taking their Level 2 Skills Paddle Canada certification course?

I am offering my last one of the year Sept. 21 – 25.  It will take place from Saltspring Island – camping at Ruckle Park.  5 days of skills (new and improvement of old); re-entries (solo and assisted) and lots of knowledge classes to help improve your abilities for risk management and safety as well as practical skills.  You will learn a huge amount and bring your paddling skills to the next level.  There are two students registered (the course is going ahead) and room for two more only.

Cost is $675 / person.

There is now a COVID-19 section of the website with guidelines and a health questionnaire and contact sheet that the club executive has developed — just in time for the Labour Day Weekend campout on Newcastle Island. Feel free to post any questions about the guidelines here on the forum.

For those concerned about ferry reservations, consider walking your kayak onto the ferry at Horseshoe Bay. Brechin boat ramp is only a few hundred meters from Departure Bay ferry terminal in Nanaimo. It is only a 3o minute paddle around the south end of Newcastle Island to the eastern shore where we will be at Group Site #3.

I am planning on going kayak camping at Newcastle Island on the Labor Day weekend.  I would like to meet up at Horseshoe Bay with others going if possible to make loading/unloading the boats and parking the vehicles a little easier.  I can leave anytime on Friday Sept 4 and I was planning on staying until Sept 7 unless the weather gets really bad.  My email address is jh99155@gmail.com.

Hello again! September is coming quickly and our opportunity to book the group campsite on Newcastle is slipping away. Despite the pandemic many of you have been out paddling. It would be great to meet up with you and share stories. Just as many have missed out out paddling this season and we would love for you to be able to get out on the water for at least one long weekend.

Hi Nicole,

I live in Vancouver, however, would be happy to join you, if you know of a launch site(s) that does not have a lot of people congregating. My last experience was on Indian Arm, Belcarra Park. The morning launch was fine as there were few people about at 8:30am; however, when I returned at 2:30pm the place was crowded with people and children. No one was social distancing or wearing a face mask, except me. this was a really unsafe situation.

Let me know if you have any ideas. I have a 19 foot Telqua kayak and used to paddle regularly.
