Anyone looking for a marine handheld radio, this Standard Horizon HX 890 is a good radio to choose.

It is on sale at Steveston Marine for $269.00. I believe I paid closer to $300 two years ago.

A few things I like about this radio are:

DSC (Digital Selective Calling) using MMSI number. (Maritime Mobile Service Identities)

    Built in GPS.
Can use to track down your route (It may eat up battery but you can uses it).
Provide coordinates during emergency or let someone know your location.
Distress button – Broadcast DSC distress alert with GPS coordinates.

Li-ion battery + separate cartridge can use with AAA batteries.
    Submersible IPX8, floating radio.
Have a FM radio if any uses.
    Three year warranty.

Technical specifications are on the Standard Horizon Website.
