    I received an e-mail today from the Outdoor Recreation Council of B.C. inviting comments about an application from Majestic West Coast Wilderness Adventures Ltd. for a license of occupation in the Deer Group.  If you’re interested in learning more and perhaps commenting on the application, here’s the email in its entirely:

    Hello ORC Members,

    Here’s an opportunity to provide comments on a commercial recreation application that has been received by FrontCounter BC. You are welcome to share this email with others.

    Public Comment Period Notification

    The public is invited to comment on the following commercial general use application by May 19th, 2021.

    Proponent: Majestic West Coast Wilderness Adventures Ltd.

    Crown Land File: 1415107

    Location: Deer Group Islands near Bamfield

    Tenure Type: License of occupation

    Intended Land Use/Background Context: Guided kayaking and camping trips to the Broken Group Islands and the Deer Group Islands

    Legal Description: Those parts of District Lots 653 and 654; together with unsurveyed Crown land or foreshore covered in water being part of the bed of Trevor channel, all within Barclay District, shown outlined on sketch below as Sites 1-6, containing 0.06 hectares, more or less.

    Size (Area) ha (approx): 0.06

    Schedule/Term of Proposal: 3-5 years

    For additional information, please review the submitted Management Plan which further outlines the location and land use of the operation.

    It does not sound as though they are setting up permanent campsites, but there are not many sites available in the group.

    Their website does not say how many people they take out at a time.

    How do you think this will affect availability of campsites for other kayakers?
