Dear Members,

We wish to advise you that given the current circumstances we will refund everyone fully for course cancellations (by SKABC) and course withdrawals (by Members). 

Courses may be cancelled based on how the current situation unfolds.  Some courses may go ahead if social distancing is possible and with precautionary requests/guidelines in place.  That said, anyone wishing to withdraw from a course that is not cancelled, will receive a full refund.  Attending a course is a decision that all member must make for themselves, and as usual we participate at our own risk.  For more information please contact Chantal at chantalethier@msn.com.

Location:  Panorama Park Shelter in Deep Cove, by the green-roof washroom on the North side of the Government wharf.

You will learn about different types of ropes and how to tie useful knots used while kayaking and kayak camping. You will learn to use the knots to set up various tarp configurations and how to hang a suspended food cache.

During the morning of this one-day session you will learn about different types of ropes and how to tie a number of useful knots used while kayaking and kayak camping.  Time will be spent practicing tying these knots before an early lunch.

During the afternoon this knowledge will be used to set up various tarp rigging configurations as well as food cache rigging. If time allows at the end of the tarp session, we will hang a suspended food cache.

Course material provided:  Course manual and knots laminate

Instructors will bring:  tarps, ropes, poles, food cache rope/pulley system

Participants should bring:

  • Warm beverages
  • Lunch and snacks
  • Pen/pencil/highlighter
  • Camera/Video as you might like to capture some of the steps to tying knots.
  • Bring your own rope(s), tarp(s), poles or any other system you might use (optional)

Fee: $25 per person
Refund policy:
> Cancellation within 30 calendar days or more = half the course fee refund,
> Cancellation within 29 calendar days or less = no refund.

We strongly recommend packing a lunch, snack, beverages and dressing in layers.

I recognize that some club members may ask that images and video footage of themselves or their minor children captured during this activity not be shared on the SKABC website, in the SKABC newsletter, or on social media and, if so, I agree to respect their wishes in this matter.
