Boat Handling and Stroke Improvement Course

Location:  Updated Location to provide better social distancing – Hadden Park Beach (near the Vancouver Maritime Museum)

This course is highly recommended for Currents Course participants.

In this course you will learn and practice:

  • Techniques for efficient forward paddling
  • Reverse paddling
  • A variety of bracing techniques
  • A variety of steering and maneuvering strokes

Course Format:
One-day course (be ready to be on the water by 9:00 AM)

Prerequisites:
This course is hands on and participants should have taken a beginners course (preferably) or have some paddling experience.  You must wear paddling clothing that is suitable for immersion (eg. wet or dry suit) and be comfortable performing wet exits.   You must have all required safety equipment and your kayak must have water tight hatches and proper flotation or bulkheads.
