Programs volunteer urgently needed to plan club meetings

Looking to get more involved in SKABC? Join the club executive in Programs. The Programs Officer plans our monthly club meetings and is a great way to become immersed in the paddling community.

The role involves booking guest speakers for 2020 meetings, introducing guest speakers at the meetings, coordinating with club officers to add announcements and other topics, and attending monthly Executive meetings.

Also the Programs Officer has the opportunity to meet with guest speakers for dinner prior to the club meeting, along with other members of the Executive. The Programs role can be a shared position.

Email Chantal and Susan at nominationcommittee@skabc.org asap to find out more.

Conservation efforts at Belcarra

SKABC Conservation volunteers braved the rain yet again, this time at Belcarra Regional Park! Our focus was on removing invasive English ivy and holly plants from Admiralty Point. A significant area was cleared, many impressive roots pulled out, and lots of laughs were had! We even snuck in a nice paddle around Indian Arm on the way back. Thank you to all who showed up and to Vancouver Regional Parks for facilitating this event. We will be at it again on October 20th at Widgeon Creek.

Outreach volunteers make impact with Big Brothers / Sisters and at Paddlefest

Big Brothers / Big Sisters Paddle at Deep Cove June 15

SKABC hosted 12 kids and their BB/BS partner. The volunteers all arrived at Deep Cove at 0700h to get everything set up, kayaks picked up. Our day did not end until about 6:00/ 6:30 after we packed up and cars loaded. It was a great day. Organizer Calvin Sam sends a big THANK YOU to the volunteers that made this happen: Mark, Ellen, Kirsten, Clark, Maureen, and Karin. Thank you to the Raven Pub and Deep Cove Kayak for the pizza and kayaks.
