I’m sure you will all agree that this club brings us all a lot of pleasure and adventure, plus new friends!
Some of you may think this club magically runs itself. I certainly did when I first joined. I had no idea of the dedicated team behind all of the wonderful social events, the varied courses, and adventurous trips. After many years I was asked if I were interested in helping out on the social committee. It started small with setting up tables and chairs at in person meetings and after a few years I became Social Committee Chair who organized picnics, holiday parties, and our spring and fall flings. I was then part of the executive and saw behind the scenes. I realized how much work each executive member actually contributes to keeping the club running and bringing you the courses and events.
After a few years, somehow…I became president. I’m not sure how, as I don’t feel like I am presidential at all. But, with the position vacant, I wanted to help to keep the club running.
This brings me to my point.
Many members of our executive committee have been serving for years and as such have made the decision to step down. We need SKABC members to step up and take on these roles. You do not need any special skills or education, though for some roles it can be beneficial. Don’t be daunted by lack of experience; we will have a team to support you and someone to train new executive members. If you are concerned you have limited time to offer, it is not a large commitment at one meeting per month and depending on the position, some the work involved in a particular role. We are all busy but we make this important commitment to keep SKABC going each year!
Come and join us in making 2027 a great year for SKABC!
Executive Positions to be filled for 2027:
Programs Coordinator - monthly meeting speakers & presenters
Social Chair - spring/fall flings, in person meetings, holiday party etc.
Web Manager - updates WordPress website with news and reports, updates calendar, manages hosting.
Communications - monthly newsletter, email blasts
Librarian - store and transport our books, monitor checked out books
Membership - monitor registration, answer inquiries, send welcome letters
