2019 05 30 Steve Best and I (both from BC) took in my old power boat a heavy load of lumber and tools, which needed 2 trips. We had launched from Porteau Cv at 07:50 am. We worked 9 am – 7 pm on the tent platform and finished it except for some staining, but we were running out of drill battery power and light by the end, arriving back at launch at 8:15 pm - yikes! A very productive day, however!

2019 04 24 Reed Clarke, Cythia Rose Lee, Paul Geddes and I went out in the power boat to a day's work, with a moderate load of lumber and tools. I had arrived early, at 7 25 and we launched at 8:15 but had a flat boat battery. After fiddling about, I took the battery from my car and used that one instead. We started work at 10 am on the tent platform, burning previously brushed clippings, site levelling and bending the sharp edge on the toilet roof to make it safer. The morning's calm water changed to a chop for the return trip, so that meant going dead slow to avoid soaking everyone (boat is a "SoakerCraft 18") Back at launch 6 pm - for another long day for our excellent SKABC volunteers! Thank you!

2019 04 10/11 Reed Clarke, Ben Kreoker, Jen Kane, Steve Best (via kayak) (all from BC) and I went to Zorro Bay and nearby sites to do a site cleanup and start to build a tent platform. The power boat struggled with a big load of lumber, deck blocks, bags of concrete, tools and crew. We started out early - 8:20. The rain soaked us, we had flat water. We unloaded at the beach then collected debris re-loaded and went back to Porteau Cv picking up 2 foam blocks of debris on the way back near Zorro Bay. Unloaded, carried junk to bin with help from Park Operator’s truck. Then we loaded on more lumber and a bag concrete in a Rubbermaid. The boat was stuck for a short while on a rock at the foot of the divers' stairs. We returned via Islet View – picking up more marine debris. then camped at Zorro - in the rain of course!. The following morning we loaded even more debris. and headed back to Porteau Cv with Jen. We arrived at 9am unloaded our debris, carried it to bins and collected Tina Mathieu. Then we headed off to Ramillies Ch. where we stopped for 1.5hr. to sweep the beach and tried to clear an old garbage pit. We left for Zorro bay, picking up collected garbage at Zorro's S bay. Later we again loaded up with debris, plus Ben, Jen and Tina and took most of the crew to Porteau Cv. After removing the junk to the big bins and saying goodbye, I realized I had made a near-fatal PST/PDT LW timing error and was stranded on the beach until approx 5:30 pm. Steve arrived by kayak. I returned to Zorro much later than expected for Reed and brought all our... Read more

2019 03 08 Rainer Schwab and i (from BC both) launched my power boat at Squamish ramp at 7:45 am after clearing much frozen snow out of her. With a heavy load but nice flat water we soon arrived, unloaded on the rock shelf N of creek mouth - high water and anchored on the usual clothesline. We worked 9 am to 2 pm screwing decking and non-slip mesh onto the log bridge. We were off water by 3:15 pm. A productive day!

Launching from Squamish Yacht Club, 5 SKABC members spent Saturday night April 14th at Tantalus, primarily for the purpose of building a picnic table at the site. Lumber dropped off in the fall of 2017 was used to construct the table on top of the concrete donkey foundation and set into the threaded bolts that projected above it. The lumber was all very dense and reclaimed old-growth fir that had been used for 40 years in BC Pavilion at Hastings Park to support the Challenger Map of BC. It now has a new home as a 12 by 5 foot dining table at Tantalus Landing. A nice bench was installed at the north end of the table by Mike McHolm. Others (Steve Best) subsequently helped to Linseed Oil the table to keep it in good shape . The table is approximately 100 kgs and held in place by dug-out indentations at the position of the steel bolts projecting from the donkey and by its own weight. It may be gently lifted up and off for maintenance. The top boards are held in place by construction screws set in from below. NOTE: A stainless steel sheet for protection of the designated cooking area is scheduled to be added to the south side of the table where the large overhang is located.

One Night - Saturday, August 4th - 6 paddlers from SKABC, arrived at 5PM and left at 11AM. Two other groups of 2 also stayed that same night. Two were SUP paddlers heading from Gibsons to Squamish, and two came by rented kayaks out of Gibsons. Four stayed in the lower two tent sites and six slept up on the rock. All cooked on the beach. All three parties had intended to stay at Bain Creek, but 14 campers and counsellors from Camp Potlatch had arrived earlier to the spend that one night there. We saw them paddling their canoes back to camp on Sunday morning.

Nice guest book! Your trees need pruning! Free form answers, so this form does not require or suggest answers to our questions. I'm from BC. Arrived on the ether. Not staying overnight. Just me in my party. Date of my visit was yesterday. I think we should ask for a more custimized guest book if the cost is only $10 /yr, as I understand.
