Hi….we found a speayskirt hanging on a branch where we stashed our gear….it has eco marine on it  Eva & Dermot are taking it to their house.  I am missing my sunglasses…black, hobbie or so as name.  I think I left them at the geach when I took my firstblot up yo the car….then got chatting. Hoping they ended up in someones bag rather than me dropping them along the walkway.

Thank you all for a super fun day.

    Hi Nick,

I’m interested in doing the 2 day version. Can you put me in touch with the other person who’s interested?

    Thanks,

    Heather K.

So far, we look like we’ll be a group of 5 for the 3 day trip 12-14 June.

At least one other paddler wants to join us on Saturday for a shorter version of this same trip. If there is another experienced paddler wanting to do that, the two or more can buddy up and participate more safely.  They will short cut the S end of the route to join us somewhere on Day 2, directly W of Porteau Cove, such as at Islet View.

I am not offering to lead this 2 day trip – I’m committed to the full 3 day version – but I’ll put you in touch with those who already have expressed interest and give you more info on the trip plan.

Like the 3 day version, this ends in Squamish with the opening ceremony for the new Sea to Sky Marine Trail and BBQ at the Sta7mes Reserve.

So far, we look like we’ll be a group of 5. Room for more. Also, at least one other paddler wants to join us on Sat for a shorter version of this trip. I’ll post the 2 day version as a separate short-notice trip.

Next outing will be Monday 8 June.

Today Steve Barnes helped Mick and I at Thornbrough Channel – we don’t seem to  have much to show for a full day of work, but at least the boat run is complete.

Yesterday at Islet View we also worked on the boat run to take advantage of this week’s low tides. We foiled by a couple of rocks at the very bottom. We didn’t have much time at low slack and the substrate was, I believe technically called blue clay – but to us just seemed like glutinous black grey mud that gave no footing and no place to lever from. At least if these rocks remain there for a while, they will only rarely be a problem and we’ll revisit them some time when we feel especially energetic. The upland site work is going well – another very nice site!

Super progress made at Thornbrough Channel again on Friday. Lovely day except too hot! Thanks Randy for sweating with us! We’ll go out again Wed 3 Jun. and likely Thu too. Likely venue is Islet View. Helpers welcomed!

I’ve got dozens of sharp blades and lots of extra batteries.  We will be all set to cut through anything.

I’ll also bring my PFD this time!

You got the last spot Randy, you lucky guy! Pl bring the sawzall only. For cutting rebar, so needs a metal cutting blade. I can bring blades if they are standard as with my recip saw. 07:30 St David’s/Taylor Way exit.

Your usual companions plus Kyle our hired help – he is phenomenal! Eat your spinach if your want to keep up with Kyle.  Trail work, some site levelling, some possible rock work on the beach but unlikely as tides are not cooperating this week.

Can you pl submit a good Howe Sd work photo to Rita for the newsletter? Mick and I have taken mostly poor shots of stubborn boulders or the back ends of anonymous workers with their heads down and butts up etc.

If I do not already have a spot on Friday’s Thornbrough work team, then I’ll take the “room for 1 volunteer.”  Are there any special tools or equipment needed?  I have a battery-powered sawzall, 3′ limb clippers, rakes…  Just let me know.

Looks like we are on for Friday with room for 1 volunteer. Destination  – Thornbrough.

On Monday we went out and worked hard all day at Thornbrough. We are opening access to beautiful bluffs with a great view, so we’re starting to feel pumped about this site, too! Added to that we saw a small pod of orca off Anvil I. Nice to see them in Howe Sd.  All the seals had vanished – so the whales were likely transients.

Seems another week with ultimately no takers. We had a pair on the line, but the loss of one resulted in losing both.  Maybe summer’s warmer weather will bring more out.
