Conservation at Fraser River 1A to remove Scotch Broom
When: July 16, 2024 from 12:30 PM – 5:30 PMWhy join us?
Scotch broom is a serious bully. It spreads like wildfire and burns like wildfire. Wildlife can’t eat it, and it smothers our more delicate native plants.
Metro Vancouver Parks want to control the spread of Scotch Broom on Don & Lion islands in the Fraser off Richmond. These islands are seldom visited. We would launch near Shelter I Marina, Graybar Rd/Dyke Road, Richmond, where there is a paved boat ramp. The paddle across to the islands is very short (maybe 200 m) and looks hazard-free, but expect some current and muddy banks on arrival.
