Planning a trip in July. We have 3 nights and we are cutting some crossing time by going in/out from the Lodge.

Wifey and I are reasonably experienced paddlers and can handle up to 2C but we’ll have our pre-teen with one of us in a double.

Looking for any recommendations on what to do or NOT do. Seems challenging to have much float plan flexibility in planning with making reservations ahead of time…?

The outer islands are more exposed if the weather turns. Clarke, Turret, and Gilbert are lovely. Willis is closed. You might sight wolf tracks on Nettle. I suggest picking a centrally located camp spot and staying there the three nights and doing day trips. There are a couple of great and very detailed guidebooks that are hugely helpful. Do not go out to the outer islands (Benson, Woewer, etc) in bad weather and swell.

    Hi Oron

are you staying at  the lodge for your trip through the broken islands?

I did this trip many years ago when the rates at the lodge were cheaper… I might be interested in joining your trip if you like. I have lead many trips to the west coast of Vancouver island.  Phone me if you like    Ron at 604 803 5937
