I wanted to share the CBC story about a kayaker who capsized just north of where we were circumnavigating Anvil Island a couple of weeks ago:

It’s a pretty scary story since he wasn’t able to swim to shore or get back into his kayak. It really illustrates the importance of rescue practices.

I just wish they’d also emphasized the importance of learning rescue techniques, and where people can learn such things! It sounds like he didn’t even know how to fit his own PFD properly 🙁
