When: June 17, 2017 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Mountain Equipment Coop every June organizes a day during National Paddling Week with dozens of events for kayakers and other small boaters, and almost all of it is free. Check out new and used kayaks, try one out, attend a dry-land or on-water paddling workshop, and visit the “PaddleSwap” (where everything from sunglasses and sports watches to paddle floats and even paddles are sold at often well below cost).
Make sure you sign up in advance as some of the most popular workshops sell out; visit the MEC PADDLEFEST page to register for events.
AND, if you want to have even more fun and support your club, stop by our booth, get a name tag, and take a seat or wander the crowd spreading the SKABC word:
“great people, great training, great trips and great meetings!“
And look at the GREAT LOCATION we have this year:
We will also be hosting two kayak packing workshops at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, both of which would benefit from a few extra hands and people to answer questions.
Word is that we’ll have drinks, snacks and lunch for our volunteers, especially for those who might help with the set-up or take-down. And, we’ll pay for the parking, if you spend a least an hour with us. Parking is free along NW Marine Drive, but the Locarno Sailing Centre lot closest to the PADDLEFEST requires a paid ticket.
Here is the schedule, including our two workshops in pink in the “On Land” section:
Let’s show Vancouver paddlers that SKABC is the place to be and the people they want to paddle with!
Check book below to let us know if you are planning to come, or send the leader an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. AND bring your kayak and go out for a short paddle at 4:00 after the event closes down. Paddle until 6:00 and then head to dinner on the gorgeous second floor deck of the Locarno Sailing Centre at the Galley Grill. Or just join us for dinner!
