Hi Jim.  Yes, it’s too bad that Scotia Bay has closed.  We’ve stayed there many times over the years.  We are now planning to launch from the Bear Cove boat launch and park our vehicle at the long-term parking lot for the Prince Rupert ferry.  We’re planning to paddle out to our first campsite rather than camping in Port Hardy but if you’re looking for a place it appears that the Quatse River Regional Park and Campground is your best bet.
