Quadra Island (2B-C/3C)

When: September 20, 2018 until September 23, 2018

We're fully booked for this event. NEW: scroll down to see if a waitlist spot is available. Note that we may be able to add space depending on interest.

Come discover the beauty and fun of Quadra Island. We’ll have the Discovery Islands Lodge to ourselves and we’ll have a fantastic time! There will be two groups: an intermediate/advanced group that will play in the currents and explore and a mixed group that will explore at their leisure. Kayak rentals are available.

A wetsuit or drysuit will be mandatory. Extra clothes, food and gear should be properly stowed in waterproof containers and/or dry bags in case of a capsize or inclement conditions. Paddle skills should include basic strokes, wet exit, self rescue and rescue assist.

Paddlers will stay at the Discovery Islands Lodge on Quadra Island. The Lodge is comfortable, the rooms and toilets are on the second floor, and the kitchen, dining area and family room are on the third floor, equipped with a wood stove.  There are two solar showers off the second-floor balcony.  We are required to bring our own sleeping bags/bedding and towels.

This trip is open to SKABC and PIKA members. There will be one big group (up to 18 of us) with four trip leaders (from PIKA & SKABC) heading to the Discovery Island Lodge. Once there the group will split as follows:

The “Currents” group will include intermediate to advance paddlers, this group will spend time playing in Surge Narrows based on the currents schedule for that weekend, the rest of the time, we will paddle and explore. The “Fun” group may combine novices, intermediate and advance paddlers, this group will paddle and explore but avoid Surge Narrows. The two groups will  combine at night to hang out and have a good time.

Due to the travel time required to get to Quadra Island the lodge is reserved for 3 nights. Full capacity is $142 per person (tax included). Price per person may vary depending on attendance. A deposit of $50 is required to reserve your place on this trip.

Single kayaks are available for $55 per day and Doubles for $90 per day.
