Navigation – Course

When: April 22, 2017 until April 23, 2017 from 8:35 AM - 6:00 PM

This course will teach participants the fundamentals of navigation, including using charts and compasses. You will learn how to follow a course to a destination and find your way home again with confidence. Tides and currents will also be explained.

The course is based out of Montague Harbour Campground on Galiano Island in the Southern Gulf Islands.

Ferry reservations will be required and should be made well in advance as follows to ensure that participants arrive to the campsite on Galiano Island on the Saturday morning (please note there are only 2 sailings per day).  Your course coordinator will assist in pairing participants as required.

Departure from Tsawwassen at 8:35am on April 22nd
Departure from Galiano at 5:05pm on April 23rd

Course Location: Montague Harbour Marine Montague Park Road, Galiano Island, BC V0N 1P0

Prerequisite: You must be comfortable performing a wet exit, re-entry and assisted rescue.

Course Format:  This overnight course combines kayaking, camping and learning.  Course material will be provided onsite and instruction will take place outdoors.
