Knots and Tarps – Cancelled

When: March 30, 2024 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location:  Cates Park Shelter near boat launch

Do you have trouble remembering how to tie knots?

Do you have trouble rigging up tarps that don’t sag in the wind or rain?

This course teaches only 8 knots that you can use to secure kayaks and set-up tarps in camp. You will learn:

  • how to use the 8 knots in any kayaking/camping environment to rig fully adjustable tarp systems.
  • about rope composition, what type of rope to buy and where to buy rope.

Bob will also demonstrate his food cache system and everyone will have a chance to operate it!

Course material provided:  SKABC laminate with the knots. A soft copy resource with additional information, tarp rigging photos and a list of websites will also be circulated.

Instructors will bring:  tarps, ropes, poles, food cache rope/pulley system

Participants should bring:

  • Warm beverages
  • Lunch and snacks
  • Pen/pencil/highlighter
  • Camera/Video as you might like to capture some of the steps to tying knots.
  • Bring your own rope(s), tarp(s), poles or any other system you might use (optional)
