Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

When: September 28, 2013 from 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM

This is Linda with an update regarding the ‘Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup’ taking place on September 28th, 2013. I am a new volunteer with SKABC.  Under the guidance of Nick Heath I am taking on the position of Marine Trails, Parks and  Conservation representative.
I have coordinated and registered  SKABC as a participant in this Shoreline Cleanup initiative and I have registered the Estuary of the Widgeon Creek area as the cleanup site. This national event runs from September 21st through September 29th; I have set September 28th as the cleanup date.  Please meet at the parking facilities at Grant Narrows/Pitt Lake by 9:30 where we can coordinate our efforts.  Depending on the number of participants we might have the opportunity to cover the Widgeon Creek campsite area/sloughs, along with the outlet of Pitt Lake, Siwash Island and south along Pitt River.
I have presented a letter to the City of Coquitlam asking for their support and donation in the form of useful items for the cleanup.  I have requested gloves, clipboards & pencils, garbage bags, and garbage pickers, and the City agreed to assist us.
I hope that you will participate in the 20th anniversary of the ‘Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup’ and support the Conservation Goals of SKABC.
Please email me at lm.r@shaw.ca to indicate your interest and I will send you an update on the event next week.
