Copeland Islands (2B), Victoria Day Weekend *updated dates*

When: May 17, 2019 until May 21, 2019

We're fully booked for this event. Scroll down to see if a waitlist spot is available. Note that we may be able to add space depending on interest. (How does the waitlist work?)

Update: New start date 17th May 2019, end date 21st.

The Copelands are a pretty group of Islands (see writeup and pictures on BC Parks website) about 1.5-2 NM west of Lund on the Sunshine Coast. We will base camp either on North or Middle Copeland depending on availability. From there we have several options for longer day paddles (Okeover Inlet, Cortes Island, Savary Island) or just exploring the immediate area.

There should be some furry wildlife such as sea lions to visit. This is also a good area for fresh oysters. It will give paddlers new to the area a taste of the edge of Desolation Sound for future trips. This is a good area for a first time multi-day kayak camper.

Participants must be have some wilderness camping experience, be self-sufficient, able to do self and assisted rescues, and be able to paddle at least 8 NM a day.

Breakfast, lunches, and snacks will be on your own. Dinners to be shared and prepared by one or two paddlers each day depending on number of participants. It is expected that everyone participate in a trip planning meeting.

Please e-mail or call Karin (see below) directly if you have questions.

Pre-Trip Meeting / Paddle: Meeting definitely. Paddle – TBD.

Potential Hazards: Only the weather.

Required Paddling Skills / Gear: Dry or wet suit mandatory. All camping and personal gear necessary for a multi-day trip.
