Bio: Say hello to Maia, whose paddling journey began in the breathtaking Southern Gulf Islands with Island Escapades. With over ten years of exploring BC, she’s become one of the most passionate and knowledgeable guides you’ll meet. Her love for nature, especially salmon, birds and the forest, has brought her to a stand against harmful salmon farming in the Broughton Archipelago—a place she proudly called home for a long time; as well as bushwhacking throughout the Pacific rainforest looking for intact old-growth and building trails and boardwalk to access it.
Maia’s adventures took her further north, where she embraced guiding, tree planting, and working as an aquatics and forest technician in Northern, BC. Now, she lives in Laxyuumb Ts’msyen (Terrace, BC) with her dogs, Skye and Zymmy, and a sea-can full of boats and snowboarding gear. She’s had the amazing chance to live on Haida Gwaii, where she spent her days canoeing, fishing, wandering through magical-mossy forests, and tree-planting through contrasting cut-blocks.
