Trip Planning and Safety, by Mike Gilbert
In this presentation, Mike will address trip planning, practical camping solutions, and personal development, and will share his advice on becoming a better, safer and more confident paddler.
Mike Gilbert’s paddling adventures began more than 60 years ago on lakes and rivers in Quebec. He moved out West in ‘79 and started sea kayaking in 2009. He earned his Paddle Canada and Sea Kayak Guide levels and quickly moved into becoming a teacher, instructor, coach and guide.
Mike spent 7 years as President of Paddle Canada and today, consults in risk management at the corporate level through Paçantic Risk Management Corporation. He teaches and guides sea kayaking on Canada’s beautiful and challenging west coast during the warmer months with the BC Kayak Centre.
