Potential Hazards: Howe Sound can get very windy during summer months. See (Trip Classifications)
Trip Leader: Maureen Benzon
Assistant: Kelly Robertson
Paddle and Rescue Skills: Ability to paddle in 15 knot winds. Successful self and assisted rescue completed within the past 12 months.
Leadership style: The group must commit to launching, paddling and landing as a group, have all the required safety gear and have completed a successful rescue (solo and assisted) within the past 12 months.
Required Clothing: wet or dry suit mandatory, camp gear, food, appropriate outdoor gear for July
Additional Information: Be prepared to spend an extra night if the wind is severe
Monday. Launch at Porteau Cove and paddle to Ramillies Channel. We will get there early enough to explore other camp sites if Ramillies is full. I have no idea how busy the sound will be during school holidays.
Tuesday and Wednesday:: Wherever we end up, we will base camp and day paddle for 2 days, returning via Pam Rocks on Thursday.
Parking: Park overnight at Porteau Cove.
