SKABC Conservation organized a Yellow Flag Iris removal 3 June 26. Metro Vancouver where so impressed with SKABC contribution they wanted to invite SKABC members to a second Yellow Flag Iris removal event
Metro Vancouver wants run another Yellow Flag Iris deep water cutting event on Wednesday 17th June. Please contact SAM directly via email if you can attend at:

I wanted to invite you all to this as aMetrovan event.
The details are the same as last time (See below) and the orginal event in past trip postings 3 June 2026.Please
– appropriate clothing and gloves, the yellow flag iris may cause skin irritations
– snacks or lunch
– water
– kayak gear or USE A CANOE PROVIDED but suggest your own PFD, (better fitting)
– cutting shears and supplies will be provided,Bathrooms on site where cars are parked
17th June – 09:00 – Meet at the new Widgeon parking lot at the end of Quarry Road.https://maps.app.goo.gl/ctPUFA5D8R1REzfX8
I will then escort the cars to the meadow and to the Spit (https://maps.app.goo.gl/favHtdJ9gWPi1xgF8)
Once we drop the canoes/kayaks off, some vehicles will have to be moved back to the meadow.
We will paddle towards widgeon creek (red line) but this time stick to the West side.
I will be bringing some tools. If you have a preference let me know what you liked last time.

12:30pm – Lunch
1:30 – At the end of the event, I will need to escort vehicles back out of Widgeon.
Please let me know if you can make it and if you require a space in a canoe and/or life jacket.
I’m also running a bat monitoring event in the evening so if you are interested let me know and I will send you more information.
