Howe Sound – Fall Weekend Paddle – Camp – 3C

When: September 26, 2026 until September 30, 2026

Join Ken and Kapila for a 4 night fall weekend trip within the Howe Sound.

The first day will start on September 26, 2026 from the boat launch at Porteau Cove with a launch time of 8:00 AM. “Please arrive early as public parking fills up fast.” We will cross over to Anvil Island / Domett Point then over to Thornbrough Channel for campsite setup.

Over the next 4 days we will paddle around the Howe Sound including Anvil Island, Gambier Island and other areas the group will be interested in exploring. Day paddles will range from 6-12 NM depending on conditions.

The paddle back on the September 30, 2026 will be along the shore past Islet View / Defense Island and back to Porteau Cove.

Trip length: 13 – 35 NM.

Launch Location: Boat launch at Porteau Cove

Assistant Leader: Kapila Jayaweera

On the Water: at 8:00AM

Required Paddling Skills / Gear: Intermediate level, wet or dry suit required. Ability to paddle 13NM under 3C conditions. Must have completed a successful self and assisted rescue within the past 12 months

Potential Hazards: Potential for strong winds.

Leadership style: Paddlers are expected to stay together in a group (within sight and hearing distance) while on the water.

Registration opens: January 23, 2026 at 09:00 AM

Registration closes: September 24, 2026 at 05:00 pm
