Well, I was following you spot progress and you were kicking some butt! Good luck next time.
Tiago SantosThey had tons of boats (about 75 I believe) at the end of last Summer, still had about a dozen or more a a couple months ago.. I stopped by last weekend to pick through the dry tops (all really, really old..) and noticed they’re down to 3 Impex Outer Islands, they look new for just under $1500. I’m sure they’d be willing to deal at this point!
On a somewhat related note – if anyone here happened to buy an Impex Montauk and isn’t terribly attached to it, I’d consider buying it from you!
Randy ChatterjeeJoan is right. The 1.3 metre swells and cross chop were wearing me down, particularly bad from Cape Scott to the Brooks, and were back in force as I left Tofino and made the turn to Long Beach. It was essentially unpaddle-able, and the forecasts were turning worse as a storm hit lower Vancouver Island on Tuesday and worsened on Wednesday, also with strong southerly winds bringing new wave action against the swells from the north west.
I am going to try again at some point. Despite the bad conditions, I was able to post over 50 nautical miles in one day, and my other days were generally in the high thirties, fast enough to set a record, but just barely. The bottom line is that I was being brutalized by the sea state, and saw it getting worse.
Joan JonesRandy is alive and well after a bit too much in the big wind and waves. My understanding is that after a wet exit, perhaps on re entry, his paddle broke in half. End result is that he has pulled out on the circumnavigation, is getting gear and boat back in tip top shape and will resume some legs of the journey, in preparation for another attempt in 2016. I hope I got the details right Randy. We are so happy you are safe and sound! -joan jones

I see that his tracking stopped a few days ago and wonder if tracking stopped working or if he pulled out. He was making good time.
Nick HeathWell, it’s a ;asy minute one – Bain Ck tomorrow Tues. 16 June.
Mick and I will be out there – anyone else?
Lovely to enjoy the fruits of our labour by paddling and visiting several of the sites last weekend. We camped at Thornbrough Channel and Zorro Bay – both nice – fabulous area! Just watch the wind conditions carefully!
June 11, 2015 at 1:50 pm in reply to: Short Notice Paddles. Personal trips not officially sponsored by SKABC #8580Barry DutourMEC is sponsoring Paddlefest again this year. It will be on July 4th at the Jericho Sailing Centre. SKABC would like to have a presence at Paddlefest by way of a club booth. We are looking for volunteers to host the booth and provide information about the club as requested. It’s great day to be in the sun and meet other paddlers and would be paddlers. If you can volunteer please contact Barry at vicepresident1@skabc.org.
Nick HeathYesterday at Tantalus was hot and only moderately productive. A big rock was moved form mid-landing. Driftwood has been cleared from the upper landing but all the nasty rocks are still there. Mick cleared another tent site to the N of the existing , so that is good. The professional trail crew are going there this week. Yeah!.
Unsure when we’ll be going out again – maybe Mon 15 Jun or Tue 16 Jun?

Graham Lorimer4PM works for me. Our home is five minutes above Strathcona beach. There are burgers in the freezer and lots of makings for a salad as another option for an after paddle meal.
Looking forward to a warm paddle.
Randy ChatterjeeI am game for a 4PM rendezvous today, June 7th at Strathcona Park, for a 4:30 launch. I may not have the time or energy to bring all the BBQ equipment and fixings to repeat the tremendous post-paddle feast we had last week, and am game to hit the Raven Pub afterwards. It should be a great day, high 20s with low winds.
Graham LorimerLooking forward to a paddle tomorrow PM if others are up to it. Launch time flexible. Strathcona works for me.
Cheers
Graham

Thanks,
