When: April 13, 2019 from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Let’s get our hands dirty and pull some invasive plants in one of the most sensitive ecological areas in the region! SKABC Conservation has teamed up with Metro Vancouver Parks to help restore the ecology on an old house site on the banks of the Widgeon creek.
The work site is a short, about one nautical mile, paddle away from the launch. We will work for two or three hours, have lunch, and then spend a couple of hours exploring the area.
Don’t forget to pack a lunch and water for the day. You will need work clothes and sturdy boots. Gloves and tools will be provided. While the paddle is short, this is still early in the season, so immersion clothing is required.
Launch: Meet-up at the Grant Narrows parking lot at 8:30 am for launch at 9:00 am. This is a popular and busy spot on warm weekends, so please plan your arrival accordingly.
Pre-Trip Meeting / Paddle: None
Potential Hazards: Hypothermia, 0.7 km crossing (Grant Narrows) where wind might blow up from the lake
Required Paddling Skills / Gear: Basic paddling skills, assisted rescue, immersion clothing
