Western Canoe & Kayak Paddle Expo

When: April 22, 2018 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

The Western Canoe & Kayak Paddle Expo on Sunday April 22nd will be held at Cultus Lake, rain or shine.

The Expo runs from 10am to 3pm https://www.paddleexpo.org/. Our club will have a tent and table and will be participating in Kayak Games with PIKA (The Pacific International Kayak Association).

We are looking for two sets of volunteers. Details below. Email Calvin at outreach@skabc.org for further information.

Volunteer Group 1
We will need 4 paddlers plus 1 spare that will be comfortable to participate in Kayak Games for a one hour exhibition in conjunction with volunteers from PIKA.

There will be 4 paddlers from PIKA and we will require 4 paddlers from SKABC. They will compete for prizes that will be donated by Western Canoe & Kayak.

Here is a sample of the games that the paddlers can participate in:

Kayak water polo or soccer
Relay race
Figure 8 to show turning skills
Rolling
Self rescue and assisted rescues
The paddle games will run from 12:30 pm to 1:30pm

Volunteer Group 2
We will need at least 2 volunteers to man the tent with Calvin. (He will be going between the tent and the paddle games to MC and coordinate.)

Depending on how much time we will need to set up tent, tables, displays, etc. Calvin suggest that we need to get there by 8am and have everything set up and ready to go by 9am. (there will always be people that will show up before the official start time).
