Mayne Event

When: August 31, 2012 until September 2, 2012

Event This Mayne Island weekend camping trip traditionally takes place on Labour Day Weekend. The pot luck dinner on Saturday night is one of the highlights of the club’s social calender. The weekend features casual day paddles from various launch points around Mayne Island.
Paddling difficulty is from A2 for easy paddles from Bennet Bay up to D4 for the experinced paddler wanting paddle arround Mayne or Prevost islands.
Coordinator Contact Brenda Viala bjboo@telus.net to register for this trip. Brenda will collect camping fees from you for the weekend. Please let her know what you will be bringing for the pot luck on Saturday night.
On the water The on water days trips are responsibility of the individual club members. There is no pre-planned route.
Kayak Rentals: There is only one Kayak rental location on Mayne Island at http://www.bennettbaykayaking.com/ if you are considering a rental be sure to call and book ahead. Another option is to rent from one of the city kayak stores and bring it with you.
Getting there: The most direct route is the Queen of Naniamo (Gulf Islands BC Ferry), the long weekend sailings are always full so reservations are mandatory. You can get there without reservations by going to via Swartz bay but this adds significant time to the trip.
