When: May 6, 2014 from 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Maureen Benzon

Taking Rescues from a passive environment (where we practice) to a dynamic environment (where we might need it).

Special Door Prize:  From Great West Adventure Cruises Uuchuk-III-PRIZE– Return passage for 2 + kayaks on The Uchuck III from Gold River to Friendly Cove, Nootka Sound.

This will be an interactive evening where we analyze 2 videos of successful “real world” rescues in dynamic situations. We will stop the video at salient points to discuss what we see. Finally, we will tie in with Safety Bob’s talk on Trip’s & how to use our knowledge and experience to define what characterizes a “competent” paddler.

Maureen realized her passion for kayaking when she arrived in Vancouver 12 years ago. Coming from a warmer climate where her life was spent in or on the water; swim team at school, or messing around in little boats, or windsurfing with her family. She is a Paddle Canada Level 2 Instructor, and Paddle Canada Level 3 paddler. She has done a couple of courses with Body Boat Blade on Orcas Island, and would like to share some of their wisdom.

Gear Swap & Sale:  Bring the gear you would like to sell or swap, we will have a number of tables at the back of the room for you to display what you have.
