SKABC Celebrates 25 Years of Paddling!

25 years ago a handful of sea kayakers came together as a group in order to share information, organize training sessions and to go on trips together.

In 2007, the Sea Kayak Association of British Columbia is 300+ members strong, organizes dozens of training sessions and kayak trips per year and shares information about sea kayaking via regular meetings, a library, a website and email.

SKABC celebrated 25 years of paddling in British Columbia with a day of festivities on Saturday, June 9, 2007. Activities included:

• A written proclamation by Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan of Saturday, June 9, 2007 as Sea Kayaking Day.
• A group paddle around English Bay, from Vanier Park to Siwash Rock and back. About 50 hardy souls braved the downpour for this event.
• Great food, great company, an amazing cake and story telling at the Billy Bishop legion in the evening.
